Building the New Bridge

The outline of the new bridge is beginning to take shape. Daryl Axelson and Roger Hansen, cameras and notebooks in hand, have been observing the construction process and are providing us with a detailed account and timeline of important steps in the process. Check back for future updates as construction continues.

The project sequence of events is to drive all of the piles, build and start using the detour, build the east and west abutments, build the pile caps, put in a portion of the pre-stressed concrete slabs between the pile caps on the south side of the new bridge, create a new driving lane on the south side of the new bridge, remove the old bridge, and then complete the new bridge north driving lane and rails.

The project is on schedule and within the projected budget.
