 Road Commissioner Duties

Primary Duties

The preservation and maintenance of the T.I.C.C. controlled primary and secondary roads on Reach Island (Treasure Island) and the easements associated with them. 

This includes the paved roads that circumnavigate the island (E. Treasure Island Dr.) plus stubs and turnarounds, E. Treasure Island Road starting at the Island side of the Bridge and continuing to the 3-way stop, the Fire Access road (Center Road) that runs down the center of the island and the 4 approaches that run from the paved road to the fire access road.

Secondary Duties

The preservation, maintenance and inspection of the following TICC items associated with the primary and secondary roads on Reach Island.

  • Storm water drainage on the road easements and emanations from the road easements to “off island”
  • Speed inhibitors placed on the primary paved road and their associated maintenance.
    • Painting on a scheduled basis according to the TICC approved scheme
  • Signs and traffic controls placed on the road easements by the TICC board (minus the traffic signals and associated equipment on either side of the bridge)
  • Visibility Reflectors
    • Replace damaged or missing reflectors based on the scheduled inspection cycle
  • Easement maintenance / beautification
    • Mowing the sides of the roads to control weeds
    • Shrub removal from the easement to prevent sight blockages, prevent road deterioration from root migration
    • Keeping the drainage ditches free of debris.  

Tertiary Duties

All equipment owned by the TICC Board and controlled by the Road Commissioner shall be:

  • Inventoried
    • Keep an inventory of all equipment within the Road commissioners charge
  • Maintained
    • Develop a maintenance plan for each piece of equipment
  • Have Operational Documentation
    • Based on the owners manuals, develop a step by step guide for the proper operation of the equipment and keep it shadowed with the
  • Stored in Beach Shed
    • Identify areas (shadowing) for each piece of equipment and its operating procedure
