Pile Vacuuming Job

On Wednesday, December
21st, the piles at new bent 2 (mainland side) and new bent 15 (Island
side) received some special attention. Since they are closest to the
shore on the east and west sides, the distance from the top of the
pile to the existing surface of the beach (inside the pile) is much
shorter than the other piles. This condition would not allow the
10-foot-long rebar cages to be placed down to their proper depth. The
piles had to have ground material removed from the inside of the pile.
To do this a large vacuum truck was used.
