Cutting and Capping the Piles >
November 17th was another
all-day bridge closure day. The two concrete bridge sections adjacent to the west
abutment were removed to allow the placement of the final two piles. After the last pile was
driven, the deck slabs were re-installed. This bridge closure was
also shorter than anticipated, and the bridge was re-opened at 1:30 pm.

With all of the piles driven, the American Construction Company Tugboat
Chelan,
140 Ton
Floating Crane D.B. Palouse, and Flat Barge
Skagit
were no longer needed and were returned to the company's Tacoma headquarters.
